Tibial Bowing, Fibula Hemimelia and Congenital Pseudarthrosis of the Tibia

There are 3 distinct varieties of tibial bowing defined by the direction of the apex of the bow:

  • Lateral: Normal variant in the first year of life
  • Posteromedial bowing: Associated with a calcaneovalgus foot
  • Anterolateral: Associated with congenital Pseudarthrosis of the tibia
  • Anteromedial bowing: Associated with fibula hemimelia
