Hip Arthroplasty

A prosthetic hip joint should imitate normal hip joint activities as closely as possible. This means that the artificial hip should allow us to

§         stand without muscle effort

§         walk with least energy expenditure

§         sit normally

To be able to do them, we need a hip that can :

  • Extend slightly
  • Flex upto 30 0
  • Abduct on weight bearing
  • Rotate in full extension
